The Very Hungry Caterpillar Themed Birthday Party

For Ryan's first Birthday, I opted for a Very Hungry Caterpillar themed birthday party. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a book by Eric Carle that we simply love at home...

...so I knew it had to be the theme for Ryan's first birthday.

It was quite fun to organise actually, particularly the food. I chose the food menu based on what the Very Hungry Caterpillar eats in the story.

"On Monday he ate through one apple" (I made apple roses).

Here is the link to the recipe if you wish to make them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rGrwvEjZIQ.

"On Tuesday he ate through two pears" (I made pear roses).

On Wednesday he ate through three plums (I made a Far Breton: it is a prune custardy pudding cake - it is delicious and easy to make too).

"On Thursday he ate through four strawberries" (I made mini strawberry/raspberry tarts).

"On Friday he ate through five oranges" (I made a fruit salad with oranges).

"On Saturday, he ate through one slice of Swiss cheese" (I prepared a cheese platter).

"On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake" (I made a Nutella Chocolate Star Bread).

On Saturday, he ate through one slice of salami (I prepared a salami platter).

"On Sunday, he ate through one nice green leaf" (I prepared a salad).

For the food labels, I used the Very Hungry Caterpillar FREE printable food labels provided by Polka Dots and Puppieshttp://www.polkadotsandpuppies.com/2011/04/grants-1st-birthday-party.html?m=1

Et voila!

I don't know about you but all this food is making me very hungry :)!
