What is the dumbest (yet funniest) thing you have ever done?

You will never guess what I did today!

I drove to the local Tesco during lunchtime (because it was raining), park my car, get my sandwich (nothing exciting - ham and cheese) and walk back to work.

A couple of hours later, I look out the window. I cannot find my car.

Where is my car?
Did I park it somewhere else today?

I go to the (company) car park. The car is not there.

Where is my car?
Did I leave the keys on the contact and someone stole it?

I run back to my desk, check for the keys in my handbag. I find the keys.

WHERE THE HELL IS MY CAR???

By then I am completely panicked and I am shaking.

I finally remember that I drove to Tesco...

I take my car keys, storm out of the office (without telling anyone) and run as fast as I can to Tesco.

On my way to Tesco I get a few weird looks from passers-by.

What? Have they never seen a woman sprinting in stilettos? Apparently not :).

My guess is that I may not have been very gracious. Sorry people I was in a rush.

Anyway I am digressing here... Back to the story...

I arrive at Tesco, find my car and drive back to work.

I sit back at my desk, my colleagues looking at me with puzzled/amused looks on their faces. I tell them my story.

Needless to say that they tease me for a while afterwards.

I am such a wally :).

Baby shower gift for the dad-to-be

A few weeks ago, I organised a baby shower for my sister-in-law. She is due at the beginning of December. I am going to be the Godmother and I am really chuffed about it. Because all the family was gathered together for the weekend to attend the baby shower, I thought I could organise something for the dad-to-be too (not a baby shower as such, but a few games and a gift). Around dinner time, we played three games: - Blindfolded baby changing game - Pin the dummy in the baby's mouth game - Name that poop game Blindfolded baby changing game The aim of the game is for the dad-to-be to dress a doll. The trick is that he must be blindfolded. It was amusing to watch. Tip: If the parents-to-be are having a baby boy, spray dad's face with water when he is putting the nappy on (use a child's water pistol). He will not expect it! Someone should prepare him for it :). Day 1 with our au pair: Overwhelming day to say the least

Yesterday was our first day with our au pair Anna. We went to France to visit family and also to pick her up this weekend. She happens to live in the same town as my mum's family (it is not a coincidence though, she was introduced to me by a relative). I mentioned it in a previous post. Not because she is a difficult person (on the contrary she is really lovely). Choosing an au pair: Definitely not an easy task

So! We have decided that having an au pair would be more suitable for our lifestyle.  Trevor (my husband) works continental shifts - days or nights. I have an office-based job but I frequently need to travel for work, which means that I need a bit of flexibility when it comes to childcare. Also we have no family around so our childcare solution needs to be foolproof. Our preference is for a French au pair because we have some French relatives and we are trying to raise our kids bilingual French/English. Now the hardest part... How do you find an au pair and how do you trust her with your children? Au pairs are not CRB checked or OFSTED regulated. You know nothing about them: you do not know where they are from, what their background is. They are young and most of them have no experience with children... For me personally, this is a deal breaker. I have put off the au pair idea for years because of that but if I am honest with myself it is the most ideal solution for us.
